Hwood, Crossmax, Shelly and I celebrated the first day of a new year by heading to the top of the Willis Tower in Chicago (formerly the Sear's Tower).
At 103 stories above the ground, Hwood took a video of The Ledge... and glass cube that provided an unabstructed view of the city below. I, unfortunately, am extremely afraid of heights and fought off my vertigo with every ounce of energy I had. As Jay took a crazy video of the view, I laid in a pool of my own sweat near the elevators that take you back down.
After we returned to earth, the four of us headed to a great Italian restaurant for some wicked tasty bruschetta and Chicago-style pizzas done right. With full bellies, we hit some cool shops and loaded up in the Bug for the drive home.
Though the car was tight with all our luggage and swag, Crossmax drove like a bat out of hell to get us home in record time. It was a 36 hour whirlwind trip that included 3 states, friends, laughs, great food, and some fabulous rock and roll.
2010 is going to be a good year...

My actual "record" for the 405 mile trip from Mpls, to Chicago still stands at 5 1/2 hours, set in 1992, and will most likely never be broken, by me anyway.
