Yesterday morning, my grandma Yang Yang passed away sooner than we ever imagined. She was 93 and firey, a strong matriarch in our family. She will be missed more than I can imagine.
I feel as though it's up to my Dad and I to be strong right now as my step-mom & sis mourn in a helpless, shattered way. Lucky for me, when we're apart, Jay is always there to hold me and let me be weak. Last night we gathered for dinner and remembrance. We looked at almost a century's worth of wonderful photos and feasted on memories of her.
We knew she would be there to watch over us as we did our best to hold one another. I know she didn't want to go, but it's nice to have such a strong angel to look out for us. So what better way to toast a very special person, than with Peeps, her favorite treat... though I hadn't eaten them for decades, I joined my family in grabbing one last yellow bunny in memory of our Yang Yang.
To Yang Yang - beautiful, strong, passionate, and always fashionable.... to someone who loved me and made me feel special from the day we met... to a woman who loved her family with abandon... here's to you. May heaven hold a place for you.
Love you always,
your Kristy

Another weekend on wheels
Jay and I spent this past weekend on our bikes, enjoying some of the first days of spring. Having been a lazy turd for the past 3 months, it was quite an effort, covering 115 miles in 2 days.... but it was so nice to be out!
And I have finally got to ride my BMC for the first time since August! Poor Princess has spent the last 7 months on a rack, waiting for the snow to melt... For two weekends straight though, we've tackled our winter weight out on the open road, riding over a 100 miles each weekend for a crash course back onto the racing scene.
After the long ride with the crue on Sunday, Jay and I washed up and readied ourselves for the annual Seafood Feast to celebrate Jay's birthday. Chucker and Shannon picked us up and we met up with Randy, Teri, Greg & Jodie to devour a table full of shellfish and butter as we do every year. Lucky for Jay, his birthday happens to fall in the middle of lobster fest, so he got himself almost one (or two) of everything!
It was an awesome time, as always, laughing til our stomachs hurt and clearing the room with our boistrous voices and outlandish topics. I don't eat seafood, but it's by far one of my favorite meals every year because the company is so much fun. Happy Birthday, Jay!!! I hope you had a great time. xoxoxo
Oh, and what did the man who has everything get for his birthday other than a stomach ache? A dog carrier to take out his little buddy on the bike!Once the meal ended, we retired to our house for some Guitar Hero & devil's food cake decorated with what else, a lobster partyin' on...
Add that excitement and bike fatigue with Daylight Savings and a neighbor with a dog that was howling at the moon, and you'll understand my utter exhaustion. But a blissful exhaustion at that.

Cold n' Wet....ick
Rode home from work yesterday and it was not nearly as satisfying as I'd hoped. For some reason racing in the rain doesn't bother me too terribly much, but commuting last night stunk.
50 minutes into the wind and the cold rain was not fun. I had a rain coat, but it only kept my torso warm while the rest of me got soaked. Maybe it's the fact that there's no big prize in it.. or that there are no bragging rights in commuting in foul weather, but I was pretty miserable on my way home. And I know people tough out way worse conditions than I do, so Cheers to them!
Didn't keep me from sleeping in an extra hour and driving the Cruck to work today instead. This is nappin' weather.... and 4 o'clock can't come fast enough! :O)
And to top it off, I got warm, snuggly boy to come home to. Oh, yeah, and the dog too.
Stay warm & dry!
